Welcome to the ASL Eagles Wrestling Club Interpreter Page
This handbook contains information about American Sign Language interpreters and the roles they hold within the ASL Eagles Wrestling team.
What is an interpreter?
A Sign Language interpreter is a person who is bilingual in spoken and sign language who supplies communication access between Deaf and Hard of hearing and hearing individuals. This includes translating from ASL to English and English to ASL.
Who are we?
All of the staff interpreters have graduated from an Interpreter Education Program and have been working with the ASL Wrestling Team for a few years. The ASL Eagles Wrestling team also hosts interpreter interns to support communication access, become involved in the Deaf community, learn about the role of an interpreter, and learn with hands-on experience.
Where and When?
At every practice or tournament, there will be a minimum of one interpreter present.
